Latest news on the two-day retreat on Margery Kempe of Lynne and Julian of Norwich in October 2018.
Rt Revd Stephen Platten, sometime Dean of Norwich, is facilitating this event for us and he has just sent more details of the content of the day-and-a-half of material and some suggested preparatory reading. Click here for the information.
This is a rare opportunity to better acquaint yourselves with both of these remarkable East Anglian women writers in a time of talks, silence, led worship, and empty slots to read each of their texts.
Before Margery met Julian she visited St. Stephen’s Church in Norwich (now next to M&S) and talked with the vicar, Richard of Caister. We’re going to be using some of the metric psalms he wrote as part of our contemplative worship – knowing that Margery and Julian might well have been familiar with them.
You might like to visit the church yourself and have coffee there (click here) on the morning of the first day.
During the retreat we will be pleased to be able to announce some events celebrating the life of Richard of Caister that are being organised for 2019.
